I tried several devices, including the PS Audio P10 power conditioner, AudioQuest Niagara 3000 and Inakustik AC-3500P. Each improved the sound, but consistency remained an issue: it could become either too soft or too hard. Then I tried the Energy 2 power filter from Missing Bond. Not only was the sound consistently stable, I also noticed a clear improvement in imaging, dynamics and timbre compared with the other power treatments. The sound remained consistent, whatever the time of day. I would say it is probably the most essential component for releasing the full potential of the other equipment without holding it back. I had been looking for power treatment of this quality for several years. I also tried the Energy power cable. It is certainly an excellent cable, bringing energy to the bass, remarkable presence and a wide, deep soundstage. Give it a try! You won’t regret it.” Wanting to get the most out of my audio system, I was looking for power cables. I searched classified-ad websites and came across a Missing Bond cable. Strange: I had never heard of the brand! I got in touch and Mr Ocean replied very warmly, offering me a trial. I tried the power cable for a few days, and it was excellent! Tight bass, a natural presentation, a beautiful soundstage, and above all no coloration or exaggeration. I kept the cable. A few months later, all my components in my hi-fi and home cinema systems were equipped with them. It did not stop there: XLR interconnects, two power strips, speaker cables, Ethernet and USB cables. The sound is smoother while remaining detailed. Hard edges disappear and the result is very refined. If you do not plan to equip every component, I would prioritise using this cable on the source. Ultimate XLR Interconnects This cable brings a wealth of detail, fullness of sound and great harmonic richness. In short, outstanding elegance and finesse. Ultimate Speaker Cables This cable delivers plenty of substance in the lower frequencies. Bass is deep, tight and detailed. Overall balance and neutrality are well preserved. The dynamics and spatial presentation are particularly striking with large ensembles: big bands, symphony orchestras and choirs. I have owned a pair of 1980s Klipschorns for more than 30 years, a Halgorithme stereo integrated amplifier using 1930s PX25 power triodes, and, for digital music, a ten-year-old Schiit Yggdrasil DAC and an Auralic streamer. The Klipschorns were the foundation of my system, followed by single-ended triode amplifiers for which I took great care in choosing NOS valves. I had never paid much attention to mains power or interconnect cables, apart from my speaker cables, which I thought were good. I listened to CDs, but could not get satisfying results with digital streaming. I tried well-known, very expensive power cables and strips, but lost dynamics and other qualities. One day a friend told me about Mr Hai, the designer and maker of Missing Bond audiophile products: power filters and connecting cables. I contacted Hai, who has since become a friend. He came to my home to listen to and learn about my installation. He felt that the potential was there, but that work was needed to optimise each component and help them work better together. Its isolated output uses an Acoustic Revive LAN-1 RJ45, then a Stack Audio filter, and finally your cable to the streamer. Finally, an RJ45 cable that sounds right, with excellent bandwidth. Everything is in place, from luminous treble to tight, controlled bass. Most remarkable is its timing: information reaches your ears at exactly the right pace to involve you in the music. I have never been pulled out of listening by harsh treble or bloated bass. It stays composed even in the biggest musical surges. There is real control here. He travelled from Paris to Lille so that we could try his cables on my system. First of all, it was a very enjoyable meeting between enthusiasts, and I thank him for that. My system focuses on digital music, mainly Qobuz: Quellis 3 Premium speakers, VAC 70/70 Renaissance amplifier with eight 300B valves, an Eisen valve DAC and a Rose RS130 streamer. Two REL 5Tx subwoofers. Most of the cables were AudioQuest: Thunder, Blizzard and Monsoon for power, and Diamond RJ45 and USB for the sources. We replaced three power cables, two Blizzard and one Monsoon, with Missing Bond: one on the DAC and two on the dual-mono amplifier. The result was immediate and spectacular: much more presence, detail and firmer bass. I was amazed by the impact on my system. We then connected two RJ45 cables, with another striking result. Everything became more natural and more expressive. At prices that are relatively accessible compared with equivalent products on the market, these cables offer exceptional value. They stayed in my system! I am currently testing a power filter that seems to have the same qualities. To be continued. Carefully chosen materials, proven techniques, no empty talk or marketing illusions, meticulous work and availability, with the possibility of borrowing equipment to try on your own system. That is where everything really matters. I began with power cables for my two monoblocks, then tried speaker cables, a pair of XLRs and, the icing on the cake, a USB cable, over six to eight months. My own listening comparisons revealed clear expertise and the care of a passionate craftsman. Dynamic and transparent, with a fine tonal balance, no emphasis or forwardness, but a supple presentation. A particularly quiet and beautiful background reveals fine detail without muting the treble, which remains silky. Instrument placement is clearly defined, without blur or overlap. Careful work on insulation and electromagnetic interference. I would describe it as calm, clean listening, with a sense of ease where everything flows naturally, lifting that elusive digital veil.
